For many of us, the end of flip flop season marks the end of pampering our feet and hello to roughness and scales. Here are a few tips to keep your feet soft and smooth all winter long.
1. In the shower buff away calluses and flaky skin with a pumice stone, foot file (avoid the cheese grater), or foot scrub.
2. At night, after your shower/bath & while feet are still damp, apply a thick moisturizer like petrolatum jelly, shea butter, or coco butter. Cover with cotton socks and go to bed.
3. If your feet are cracked and flaky, use an over the counter foot cream that contains glycolic acid, urea, or a alpha hydroxy lotion that exfoliates. But, skip the socks. If cracking and flaking persist along with itching - SEE YOUR DOCTOR!
